What is SFP+?
SFP+ stands for Enhanced Small Form Factor Pluggable and is an enhanced version of SFP that supports data rates up to 16 Gbit/s. SFP+ supports 8 Gbit/s Fibre Channel, 10 Gbit Ethernet and optical transport network standards OTU2. It is a popular industry format supported by many network component vendors.
What is SFP vs SFP+?
SFP and SFP+ transceivers are virtually identical in size and appearance. The main difference is that SFP+ is a newer version that supports higher speeds of up to 10Gbps. The difference in data rates also accounts for the difference in transmission distance - SFPs typically have longer transmission distances.
